Violence

Violence speaks louder than words. When we communicate actions speaking louder than words, we mean violence. Peace is a product of violence. Are you proud to go to bed as a fearful coward who is failing to resort to arms to solve your problems? I fear my violent nature is going to kill me by collateral. I have tried consoling it but it is lost and can never be found. I fear my calm and composed side of me is going to be living a dead life, for it is in fear of resurrecting itself by igniting violence. I will let these two different natures co-exist inside of me but then who will I be? Maybe one will resort to being like the other and I will finally have peace disregard of which one prevails.

"Let us not resort to violence and let us deal with this matter in a civilized manner. Violence is not the answer, never was and never will be." These were the words of a man pleading for his life yet lying at the same time that violence is not the answer and never will be. That man just like everyone else was and is a product of violence.

The voice of reason, "Violence is always the answer to solve most if not all of life's conflicts. The world is what it is today because of violence. Yet there stands a man telling me the opposite. Africa and any other part of the world that was colonized gained independence not from negotiating in a civilized manner but through being tame and violent. Peace treaties and negotiations came after violence by war and murder. Peace is a product of violence so how can one tell me violence is not the answer to solving conflict? Who sent a louder message with action? Martin Luther King or Malcolm X. X obviously got the job done." I can be a better person than this but If I do become one, I will be submitting to being a slave whilst my current status is a victim.

The voice of fear, "He who lives by the sword dies by the sword, the Book of Life preaches. I believe they who find the solutions by means of the sword never have internal peace amongst themselves. I for one resort to letting the sword go and finding the solutions through being human. Violence begets violence. We might go to war to liberate ourselves but have we liberated those who lose their lives to the liberation war? At least if we could sit down and talk we can liberate more people from collateral death and damage. It might be a long process but Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela did it. No one gets hurt and is victimized." Am I being a coward?

The voice of reason continues with the fight for justice, "Why would you arrest me if I entice the masses to fight for the rights that have been suppressed and abused by means of violence? Peaceful protests, peaceful marches and country shutdowns do not send a loud and impactful message. Violent protests, violent marches and violent shutdowns get the job done. What is the value of a peaceful protest if you want radical change? Colonization never came to an end because of peaceful marches but of violence. Slavery came to be by violence after realizing labor was needed in the plantations and the best form of labor was forced labor acquired by means of violence. That solved the problem of labor, due to the context of violence."

The voice of Reason adds, "Fast forward to modern day, those tribes that are weaker, are not weak because they lack economic capability but are weak due to the fact that they do not have the muscle of violence and are not armed. You protect what is yours and gain more of what is not yours by being violent or by being a potential violent threat. Those in history and modern who were/are victims of exploitation are so because of failure to concede to be more violent. I am not much of a believer but the good book has a statement that goes like this, " Those who will inherit the kingdom of Heaven will do so by means of violence." Similar to the quotation before this. Oh well proves my point. "

The voice of Fear rebuts in cowardice, "History is violent, the modern day is violent yet that is not a justification for making our tomorrow violent. We have lost and damaged enough lives due to making violence the solution. If we ask for change and we are rejected with a slap across the face let us offer our backs for a kick too. We regroup and restructure our message then we come back. A righteous man falls seven times and gets back up seven times. We might be crushed by a violent system but not destroyed. Though we may think of resorting to the same act of violence we will not sit well with our conscience knowing we let the blood spill intentionally due to rational decisions. I refuse to resort to a measure that will consume me from the inside and not find internal peace like those who wield the sword for biased solutions."

The voice of Reason becomes reasonably violent, "They might have armory in the forms of guns and riot gear to crush us but we have our iron bars and petrol bombs to counter-attack. If she does not submit to me I have the larger fist and muscle to make her. If my children do not listen to my commands the good religious book gives me every right to put them in line by use of physical force. God's people, the Israelites did not receive the promised land by negotiations but by violence. So see

how violence has always been the solution not raising placards and marches. Who knows, maybe if the Israelites held placards they would have been butchered to death."

The voice of Fear concludes fear, "In the end, you who resort to violence to fight violence will be crushed. For a violent system is well equipped to deal with replicas of itself that want to destabilize it by its own nature." The angry me responds, "It is better to die for vengeance than to live as ill-fed cowards. Who does not want to put their lives and body on the line? Who became grateful for being alive but not for living life. Are you proud to go to bed as a fearful coward who is failing to resort to arms to solve your problems?"
