Relevance

Nothing lasts forever. Truth or fiction. Legacy does last forever. How about you? You will live and pass on. Throughout your life will you be of relevance? Are you relevant? If you are of relevance now, how long do you think your relevance will last? What is the element in your life making you relevant? Are you relevant without that element?

So your relevance is aided by an element or a title. How long will it be till you lose the title or element of your relevance? Or do you, as a person bring relevance to a title? Bring relevance to a title, not the title to bring relevance to you. Can a former president still wield the power to make national executive decisions when he or she holds the title of former? Can they? Let's be objective, they can and cannot.

My next-door neighbor is relevant in our society because she is wealthy. From that aspect, she wields influence and authority over society. If she goes bankrupt and loses her wealth, will she be relevant? Well, believe me, if I had that wealth I would be a relevant figure in society. So the relevance here is wealth. Is it so?

                     

What is she without wealth? What will I be with wealth? Whilst without wealth will not be of relevance. Well, these are smoking mirrors. I am not saying underestimate the power of wealth. What if she has a personality that makes her wield wealth and from there she gains influence? It is not the wealth that makes her relevant, it's her personality that gets her to the wealth that makes her relevant.

So I tell myself or ask myself, without her wealth she will not have influence. Without her personality, she will not have wealth? So what do I do to gain her personality? Silly me. I want to steal a personality and act out reality to become wealthy. Do I want to become wealthy or relevant? Who am I?

                            

What do I do to gain the core source of her relevance? Her personality. How long will her personality remain steadfast? What if she's put under pressure? Does she crack under pressure? Her wealth is the answer to my questions.

How relevant is the past to the future? If you managed to conquer in the past are you conquering in the present day? Are you to do the same in the time to come? Or do you just use the relevance of the past to soothe the wounds of your current demise and ascertain relevance from it? There is no relevance in past glory. Do not deceive yourself. It is what you do now and tomorrow that you will attain your relevance. What you do today will be of no relevance tomorrow. How do you remain relevant? How do you not get victimized by irrelevance?

What are the benefits of remaining relevant? Well the word itself answers the question. No one wants to be thrown in the dustbin of history. How do you make sure you are not thrown in the dustbin? If you fail to increase your relevance, another individual will use you as a stepping stone or tool to remain relevant or increase their relevance. Those who are competitors by title but bring no competition will be figures used by competitors to assert dominance. If you fail to gain more prominence and relevance. You will remain relevant by being a figure that was used by another entity to ascertain dominance. Or just a figure for data collection.

The bottom line, stay relevant as an individual not with a title that gives you relevance.

With time, it's either you gain relevance or lose relevance. Relevance is measured in quality. Can it be measured in quantity? Maybe both aspects of quality and quantity can be used to measure relevance. Here is the question though. Who do you want to be relevant to? Society or yourself. Can you tell yourself you are relevant without at once changing the direction of the ship or affecting the direction of the wind?
